Playing For Parker
On Saturday evening, Fyd-L-Styx played at a benefit concert for a little boy, named Parker, who suffers from Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). As usual, Dale and I occupied the back corner but this time with the newest member of Fyd-L-Styx band, Zach, in between us. Zach is the so called replacement for me when I leave for Katimavik at the end of September. He will be taking over my part in the Wabash Orange Special Cannonball, fast songs that only a minority of the band can play, and of course my spot right beside Dale. I’m not too sure of Dale’s exact opinion of Zach, but I think it was similar to mine on that night: the shy Zach is better then the live wire Zach. But Zach is an excellent player though, and him and I have a couple of gigs at weddings to do this summer.
I am down to 99 days until I leave for Katimavik, which is quiet shocking, as 36 days have passed since I had found out that I had been accepted. When I think of all the things that are going to be going on this summer, Leahy Camp, work, Ploughing Match, playing at the two weddings, and not to forget about the shopping and packing for the bloody trip, it is going to feel like a very short summer.
This week is going to be Exam Week, I got three exams for my three classes: Politics on Monday, English on Wednesday, and Computers on Thursday.
